ABSTRACT This article analyzes how niche parties may utilize a strategy of policy shifting to garner additional voters. It leverages unique opportunity in which Costa Rican political party released two different versions its manifesto at moments during single election cycle. rare uncovers the shifted from having hard conservative stance on social issues, such as abortion, moderating and centering focus less contentious issues runoff campaign. Understanding alter is important because it allows us better gauge effectiveness positions, especially for parties, particular issue area dominant. Moreover, this analysis opens avenues research Latin American context, since utilizing data context has been limited.
